Fabulous Photographers, NYC.....
From Fabulously Dressed above to Fabulously Hilarious below: this photographer (below) was by far my favourite person at NYC fashion week! - he definitely won the award for funniest photographer at NYC fashion week (if there was one!). He was running around frantically trying to get photos of fashionable people as they came out of shows at Lincoln Center, making jovial sometimes flirtatious comments to his poor unsuspecting (until he opened his mouth), subjects as he snapped away at them. He told one fashionable lady that he would like to have a wife like her and then quickly added, when I'm your age (she was roughly 70yrs of age), and then realised he had made a faux pas and just as quickly as he had made the first comment he made another of analogously foot in mouth nature and proceeded to dig himself a deeper and deeper hole - ironically in an attempt to get out of said hole! The poor thing had the best of intentions but somewhere along the way it all just went horribly wrong! (and I'm not even going to ponder about the wet patches on his jeans - being a fashion photographer is clearly no easy feat - between all the running around, the awkward commentary and the wet pants - it's a tough gig people - just something to think about for those of you considering a career in fashion photography!)

Tyra at NYC Fashion Week...
Tyra Banks is even more stunning in person than on TV! She looked so beautiful and it is apparent from this photo that she takes her own advice; a model never stops modeling! (I'm 82.76% sure there's no one actually on the other end of that phone call)

My Day as a Paparazzi.....
Oh my god Paris I loooove what you're wearing... no, Adam I looooo o o vve what YOU'RE wearing!!!
At Milk studios with Paris Hilton and Adam Lambert
This was my first (and hopefully last) experience of what it feels like to be a paparazzi and I must say - not such a fun experience - although I was standing about 30cm's (for those of you out there that haven't yet converted to the metric system ie Americans that's about 1ft) away from Paris Hilton so that was kind of a redeeming factor. How it happened: I was standing in the middle of the runway at milk studios before The Blonds show in the middle of what can only be described as a pre show feeding frenzy aka fabulously dressed people running around taking photos of other fabulously dressed people. When I entered the room I leaned over to my friend and whispered "who am I supposed to be taking photos of I don't know who anyone is" to which she replied "I don't know either- just take photos of the people that other people are taking photos of!" So I went and stood in the middle of the chaos and tried to figure out 'who was someone'. As I stood there overwhelmed, Paris Hilton walked into the room and stood 30cm's away from me - Ahh at last! Someone I recognize! So I turned around and started taking photos of her. Unfortunately EVERYONE else in the room had seen her enter too and had run over to take her photo also - all of a sudden I was surrounded by about 30 photographers all desperate to get Paris's photo! Being pushed around and elbowed in the chest by hysterical members of the paparazzi, desperate to get a photo of Paris is not my idea of fun (well not most days anyway!) I was like a pinball bouncing around from wall to wall (or in this case paparazzi to paparazzi). Some of them were even shouting at her saying things like "Over here Paris, look right at me honey" just to get the prime shot of her looking into their privileged lens!
All in all it was an interesting experience but no, I don't think being a paparazzi is the right career path for me! - I'll leave it to the pro's!!!

The Blonds Spring/Summer 2013
This was one of my fave pieces of the show!
Building the anticipation to the tune of the jaws theme song
The dramatic reveal; Yes that is a sparkly crystal encrusted Jaws bodice! (just in case you were unsure!)
Amazing, intricately detailed crystal jumpsuit!
The Blonds: David and Phillipe Blond
The excitement created by the A list crowd at The Blonds show certainly lived up to it's hype! In true Blonds style the collection was fabulously over the top, glamorous and sparkly; reminiscent of the glory days when the trani's came out to play and the mirror ball made it's debut - the 1980's! I loved the elements of satire evident in the jumpsuit with cardboard lipstick cut outs attached to it and the jaws bodice, showing that these Blonds not only have fabulous clothing but a fabulous sense of humor too! This was my first foray in to the world of NYC transgender fashion royalty and boy was it an interesting and enlightening experience; Lot's of fun, lots of glitter, lots of divas and lots of sparkles!!! More photos are on their way of the fabulous crowd.
Who said bananas are sooo last year....
Who said bananas were so last year?! One year later and Bananas are clearly still in fashion! (ok maybe this time people are actually eating them rather than wearing them, but still!) This girl totally made my day by carrying a banana around outside the shows at Lincoln Center! The best part is that she wasn't making some sort of Prada related - banana statement, she simply wanted to eat a banana at some point during her busy day!!! So there it is from Carmen Miranda's fruit head-wear in 1943, to Prada's fruit body-wear in 2011, to simply carry fruit as an accessory in 2012 - mother nature rests peacefully in her (grave, heaven, the earth? I don't know where she lives but I'm sure she's happy regardless!) knowing that the legacy of fruit lives on!

Nomia Spring/Summer 2013
Designer of Nomia: Yara Flinn
Why we love the latest Nomia colletion: It's the perfect balance of chic flowy femininity and hard urban attitude!
Why we love Nomia designer Yara Flinn: Apart from the (obvious) fact that she's gorgeous and has cool style, she is absolutely lovely and down to earth!
Born and bread a New York City girl Yara took her inspiration from street style; finding interest in mixing and matching patterns and colours. Which is evident in this collection through the paring of delicate flowing bottoms juxtaposed with tops that have to word 'whatever' written across them - oozing tough cool girl attitude! Yara started from the bottom up "working in stores and making clothes on the side" before she launched her label five years ago. Needles to say the show was an absolute success and we look forward to seeing more from this very talented designer.
